6924th Heritage Association dues policy notice: This was posted on the 6924th web site by Gil on Jan 3, 2011:

Effective with these 2011 dues, I have deleted the mailing of membership cards as both a cost cutting measure and work reduction action. That is not to say that you can't have a membership card, but they won't be sent out "automatically".
Many cards were just discarded and some folks even stated "no need to send a membership card". So this idea seems to be a good one.
IF you DO want your annual membership card after making payment, tell me so when you send your check and I'll send one if I know you want it and will keep it. Otherwise, it'll same money and time.
Those paying for LIFE membership will continue to get their one LIFE membership card.... and/or a replacement if the original bites the dust.
So if you paid your dues in December 2010 or January 2011, no cards have been or will be sent UNLESS you email me and let me know to send you one.
I don't think this will make a big difference with most folks but your comments are always wanted/needed.
Happy New Year to all who might be "back to work" today.....!............... Cheers....GIL

6924SS GUIDON AND AWARDS, DECORATIONS, AND CAMPAIGN STREAMER PROJECTIn October, 2005, the 324th Intelligence Squadron, Kunai, HI, celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of its "ancestor", the 6924th Security Squadron. During that celebration, our attendees were shown and allowed to take photos of the 324IS’s Guidon (unit flag) and its awards, decorations and campaign streamers. That led to questions regarding the whereabouts of, and months-long search for our own 6924SS Guidon. Gone. No trace. So, last year, we took on the project of researching the 6924SS Guidon for the Association. With inputs and new photography from the 324IS Commander and staff, we thought we had it nailed. But close examination of their photos of the Guidon, and its 14 streamers from the 6924th era, revealed they were unaware of our unit’s previous guises BEFORE it became a full-fledged squadron in 1965.Research into the 1961-65 era revealed that the 324th has less than half the authorized streamers attached to their Guidon. Researching and documenting the actual number, types, and dates through DoD and AF records (mostly thermo fax and microfiche from that era) was a nightmare. But it's done: the list now stands at 32. I’ll post the list separately. Our 6924SS Guidon and its Award, Decoration, and Campaign streamers – 1962-73 - have been reproduced. They were presented to the Members at the 2008 Reunion Welcoming Dinner. There is one "unauthorized" streamer – a memorial to Airman First Class Paul Wayne Anthony. Paul, our R29150 who was killed in our Comm Center during a 122mm rocket attack on the night of 8 April 1970. He had left his new bride in North Carolina when he shipped-out to the Nam - and had been in-country less than a week. Paul’s shift mate, Ralph "RJ" Jones, on-duty and severely wounded himself when Paul was killed, attached the Memorial Streamer to the Guidon during the Welcoming Dinner presentation. THE GUIDON STANDThe Guidon stand was designed and produced by non-military friends of Connie and Fred Sepelak - the Ziemba family (Judy, Jack, Mike, and Michele) in Michigan. The Ziembas had "adopted" the 6924SS several years ago for its 15-year service in SEAsia, and had got wind of the Guidon Project. They're in the machining business (Aristo-Cast Co., Almont, MI) and thought we could use a floor stand for our Guidon. It took months to complete - and it’s truly a work-of-art.The base of the pyramidal stand is 0.5-inch aluminum, weighing in at 32-lbs. On each side are bronze castings of our "patches," representing several of the guises of the unit: Team 1-A, 6920SW ("Zobel’s Zombies" – the Pioneers); Det 2, 6925SG; Monkey Mountain; and the 6924SS. Beautiful work! Judy and Jack attended the Reunion and presented their stand to the troops at the Welcoming Dinner.
TELE TIGER October 24, 2008 Page 3
Our Guidon, streamers, and the stand are both unique and send a profound message to each of us: While each saw his tour and experiences through a single, personal "lens," the flag, streamers, and stand serve to mold all those experiences into a single entity. For 15 years, we WERE the unit. Today, we ARE the unit. Our Squadron set the standard for Combat Intelligence for decades to come. Major General Gary O'Shaughnessy recently revealed that the very techniques and methodologies we developed at Da Nang, Monkey Mountain, and Ramasun are employed today – in Afghanistan and Iraq.Regardless the evolution of technologies and missions, the goal we established so long ago, remains today: "Protect the Force."The 6924SS, one of the longest tenured, most highly decorated units of the war in SEAsia, lives on in each of us. We are justly proud ..... and we are Legend .....Our sincerest thanks to all who assisted in this project.KRAIT Ø1

This was posted by Clyde Orr August 19, 2008 Hey Tigers, where are all of you guys that said you would be attending the reunion in Tucson when a poll was taken earlier this year? How about sending in those registration forms, and making those room reservations. If anyone has a problem downloading the registration form please let me know and I will send you one. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

Photos: There are almost 200 Photos in the "unidentified-help with name" album on the web site. Please look and see if you recognize anyone and comment if you have any hints to help identify any of these Tigers. Many of us took photos of our buddies and co-workers at DaNang and most of the names are long forgotten. Please provide the unknown names if you can. Also, if you have photos without a name go ahead and put them on the web site in this album. Maybe someone will help identify your friend.
Paul Wayne Anthony: was killed April 8, 1970 in a rocket attack on the 6924th Security Squadron communications center at DaNang. Airman Anthony had given up his educational pursuits at UNC-Charlotte to serve our country and is the only 6924SS member listed as KIA. Several Cadets have received awards from this great program that preserves our history while providing needed assistance to young students and future Air Force officers. Generous Tigers have kept the program alive and well and your continued support of the program is appreciated. Donations are always welcome in any amount you can afford. Please help support this wonderful program that perpetuates the memory of PWA and the 6924SS. Donations to the fund are always welcome and appreciated in any amount you can afford. Please send Donations to Gil at the address below and help support this fantastic program that helps motivated, needy and talented cadets with scholarship awards.

Sunday Chat uses the group chat feature of our 6924th my family web site. Your Golden Beaver Award-winning host Clyde Orr is looking to chat with lots of Tigers on live CHAT every Sunday at 1900hrs Central Time. For you first term airmen that is 7:00PM, 8:00PM in the east.
6924th Hat is a great way to support the Association and let everyone come across that you are a veteran. There are many hat stories on the web site resulting from Tigers wearing their hats. Gil says, "Everyone needs a 6924th hat. That's the only way you can get "hat stories"....!!!!!". Hats are on sale for a limited time at only $10 and that includes shipping so contact Gil and get yours.
Snakes are a hot item on the web site recently as some photos have been added of recent snake encounters.Silent Auction. At the last reunion someone suggested that we have a silent auction with a quilt being the prize. The reason for the suggestion was that Jer's quilt are always a very popular item in the raffle. I asked Jer if he would donate a quilt and like always he said he would without hesitation. He got tired of waiting on me to start the auction so he began the auction with this posting. The proceeds of the silent auction will go to the 6924th. There are currently 2 quilts donated by Jer being auctioned on the web site. One is the Tiger quilt and the other is Flag Dreamin’. So if you want one of these beauties log onto the site and place your bid.

The California "Mini" update by JR Stafford:
Just days before our Mini Reunion, Ed Gardini posted a marvelous pictorial tour of the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the website and if you've not seen the pictures and heard the music, it's well worth a look. Kudos Ed, and thanks for the warm up for our Mini.
This year's California Mini Reunion was held on Saturday, March 3, 2007. The weather was terrific and company was outstanding, as usual. Tigers from the Central Valley, Sacramento, and San Francisco Bay Area met at the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Sacramento for our annual "Mini" Reunion. (Pictures are posted on the site.)
It's always good to gather and renew old friendships and this year was no exception. Some of our number attend the annual Reunions held around the country, and some faithfully attend the "Mini" Reunion. Whichever one you choose, (or both for that matter), attending one or the other is a great way to keep in touch with members of the Heritage Association.
This year, Ed Gardini also acted as our Chaplain as the group (including Vera Cahill and Miki Gardini), remembered those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of freedom. I always reconnect with that time in my life a long time ago, when visiting the memorial, and being with friends and fellow Tigers makes it a special day...one I look forward to, every year. Thanks for being there again this year Tigers.
Lunch afterward is also always special as the mood lightens, and barbs, and good natured jabs are exchanged over a terrific meal at the Hyatt Hotel, located just a short walk away. This year was no different. Amid the jokes, we were all somewhat taken aback when Larry Cahill announced he was also in the running for fatherhood of Anna Nichol Smith's baby, but Vera just smiled her knowing smile and let Larry continue to "sweat" that pesky paternity suit. (Brigitte smiles at me that way too. Do you suppose they have us figured out, Larry?)
Make plans to join us again next year in Sacramento. It's fun and Larry promises to have the new baby there for pictures.

March, 2007 Tele Tiger Page 2
Washington, DC, Reunion Update:
As of March 12, 2007 we have processed twenty-five (25) reunion packages and I'm aware of many others out there who have booked their hotel rooms for the October 11-14 Annual Reunion.
Among the highlights for Friday, October 12th, includes a visit to the Vietnam Memorial in the morning and we're scheduled for a Wreath Laying at 3:15 PM at the Tomb of the Unknowns. For those of you who have not visited the "Wall," or have never witnessed the changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the unknowns, this promises to be a very moving day.
Please remember that this is a package was put together with you in mind, and I know of no plans to visit Washington, DC, again as a large group in the future. Here's what may be our last chance to be among Tigers, family and close friends and participate in some very special events in October. Make your plans to join us.
Senator John McCain's staff is handling our White House and Capitol tours on Saturday, October 13. The times are not set for these two tours, but they'll both be in the morning. We'll visit the new US Air Force Memorial that afternoon.
Tigers, I'm processing reunion packages every week, and look forward to seeing old friends and new attendees' paperwork cross my desk. As Probationary Assistant Event Coordinator, (Probie EC), I'm happy to answer your questions or concerns. Remember friends and family are always welcome to join us. This year Sepelaks, and Cahills are bringing friends, and Mike & Linda Gilkerson are bringing daughter Dawn. We've had the pleasure of seeing Eddie Brown's Mom and Dad in the past and Richard (Clyde and Margaret's boy), too. Don't be shy, bring friends and family, they'll be shocked to learn you were respectable once upon a time!
Seriously, please send your checks and information in and let’s build the reunion attendance to over one hundred (100) again this year. Give me a call at (650) 224-5900 and we'll chat.
J. R. sends from the Reunion Registration Desk
